How does the process of diffusion work? Diffusion is a lifelong process for the cells life functions when molecules move from one area of concentration to another. All cells have permeable membranes that doesnt allow any solution to pass through. When gaseous or dissolved stuff are allowed to pass through the membrane, this process is called diffusion. This process can go only when nothing keeps particles from moving, so we can observe diffusion only in gases or solutions, but cannot find it in solids. When molecules move, they go from an area with a high concentration to the area with a low concentration. A good example of it is when smell of fresh soup goes around the flat from the kitchen, or smell of bonfire goes through the forest. So, diffusion can happen only when there is a concentration gradient. Diffusion is a vital process for living organisms, there are a lot of examples how the diffusion works in human body. Digestion products that are dissolved in water, can pass through the small intestine thanks to diffusion. In the small intestine they have a higher concentration compared to the blood, so the concentration gradient will cause the process of diffusion. Carbon dioxide and oxygen are exchanged in our lungs according the same process. Osmosis is a special type of diffusion process of water molecules. This process goes through the partially selectively (permeable) membrane. The result of this process goes differently in animal and plant cells. Active transport is a process of moving of dissolves ions into or out a membrane of cell. In opposite to the diffusion, molecules move from the area with small concentration to the area with big concentration. This process doesnt go without energy, and sometimes it happens that the concentration of dissolved molecules is less outside that inside, but if the human body needs more molecules, the process wont stop. In this case, the specific molecules can be taken by carrier proteins and moving through the cell membranes. Here are some illustrations of active transport inside the human body and plants: glucose absorption in the human small intestine (the process goes in the epithelial cells share); absorption of ions by plants from ground water (the process goes in root hair cells).

Galileo Science And The Church Essay Research free essay sample
Galileo, Science And The Church Essay, Research Paper Desiring people to cognize that there was a dual mistake in the struggle between Galileo and the Church Father Langford writes an history of the facts in Galileo, Science and the Church. Langford shows in the before mentioned book that in the beginning of the 16th century the geocentric position was accepted in bulk by theologists and scientists likewise, but by the terminal of the century scientific thoughts started to emerge that were different. Theologians besides started to talk of differences in beliefs. With the interlingual rendition of the Bible into a common linguistic communication and its greater entree through the innovation of the printing imperativeness person sentiments merely increased. Through a serious of events, by the terminal of the 16th century, the Church had developed a obstinate dedication to the position quo, which tolerated no suggestions of defects in their beliefs. Galileo had begun to believe the new manner of believing with respect to scientific discipline and he had begun to compose of his beliefs and findings. The contention of Galileo? s finds and what they meant, apropos of the beliefs of the Church, started a great struggle. By the beginning of the 17th century the Church felt that they had to support themselves against the accusals of Galileo. Galileo did non see himself as assailing the Church. He seemed to believe one time he had his beliefs out that many would understand and merely accept them. On the contrary, while liberal-minded intellectuals saw his determination as a great part, the theologists claimed that anyone could see how Galileo? s theory was non possible. They stated that the Sun rose in the forenoon continued operating expense at midday and set in the eventide believing this supported the geocentric positions. Galileo continued to compose of his findings going more and more apposed to the biblical normal. The theologists were now forced to revenge with Bible and the conflict began. Without cogent evidence Galileo upset the position quo saying that the Bible does non give a scientific account of the existence. At this point in the contention between Galileo and the Church it seemed that the Church was ready to try a via media, but Galileo refused to talk of his beliefs as theory because he wanted his beliefs to either be accepted as fact of rejected wholly. This attitude of Galileo? s merely worsened affairs. Galileo truly could non turn out his theory, and he refused to talk of it as a hypothesis. The Church now adopts the same attitude as Galileo and demands for Galileo to abandon his thoughts or face imprisonment. At this point the facts become obscure because of a disagreement of the genuineness of docum ents in the Holy files and conditions or non Galileo received or even agreed to the conditions of the edict of 1616 is still left unknown. However, Galileo left Rome and lied in suspension for a twosome of old ages. Then a survey of comets emerged which Galileo could non defy composing a defense on. Langford points out a spot of Galileo? s charter demoing that the defense was written in a affair of fact sarcastic manner. The publication of this gave Galileo hope while it struck fright in the Black Marias of those that were still protecting the old order. Langford points out at this point that although Pope Urban VIII encouraged Galileo? s Hagiographas the authorization of the Church was at interest and Galileo was to compose his beliefs as hypothesis with no effort of presentation. Galileo? s Hagiographas lead to a Dialogue. It is seen that Galileo made a sculpt error undervaluing the strength of the Tychonic system to many of the influential minds during this Dialogue. Galileo besides rejected the tide theory of Kelper? s trusting his ain theory would be some cogent evidence of the Earth in gesture but he did non turn out that the Earth was in fact in gesture. At the concluding of the Dialogue the determination on conditions of non to publish it was really huffy with the edict of 1616 still standing, but it was allowed. After the publishing the Pope was convinced, by others, that he had been betrayed and made merriment of. It besides became evident that Galileo did in fact betray the edict of 1616 in hopes of turn outing his point and so the edict would be forgotten. Now, the Church must, to salvage face, act upon the unfairness to their establishment. Galileo goes to test, and the prosecution treated him as an illustration to those that wanted to travel against divinity or authorization. The prosecution bombarded Galileo with Hagiographas of his ain that were taken out of context. With the disapprobation of Galileo complete he spent most of the remainder of his yearss under house apprehension. Langford gave the facts that explained what led up to the disapprobation of Galileo with an optimistic position. Although Galileo was wrongly treated by the Church because of the Churches refusal to let him to compose of his finds or to seek and turn out them, and by the questionable manner that the prosecution handled the instance. Galileo besides wronged the Church by the manner he approached this affair. Had Galileo non so recklessly attacked the beliefs of the Church or had he shown a regard for their authorization things might hold been much different. A small nuance was warranted but non used on the portion of Galileo and the consequence was therefore. So the point of Langford is good taken that there was, as in most bad lucks, mistake and bad judgement to be seen on the portion of both parties.

Initially, we are targeting one university only, which is the Bahira University Islamabad. Other education institutions will be approached later on. Mission Statement Our mission is to provide excellent technology services to universities in Pakistan at the best cost. Product Scopeà The e-learning software will be developed by focusing on the needs and requirements of the clients. E-learning software is popularly used in UK schools. Teachers and students have given positive feedback on the use of e-learning software. We are expecting the same positive response from Pakistanââ¬â¢s education sector. Our focus is to develop the software based on some key points. Ease of use is one of the main objectives of the e-learning software. The product is new so we will ensure that it is easy to use and manage so that our clients will not have difficulty in using it. We will also ensure administrative flexibility so that they can manage it according to their needs. Our aim is to provide maximum value and optimize institutional investments to help them reduce their overhead costs and manage their finances better. We will also develop the software so that it is easily upgraded in the future should the client require changes. Basis for Differentiation There is currently no e-learning software in Pakistan, which is customized for the education sector and has excellent communication and content features. Most universities in Pakistan are using their websites for announcement and other news but they do not have a comprehensive software similar to Moodle. Our core differentiation is that we offer a customizable, flexible and easy to use software for the education sector. Strategic Resources For the development of this software, we will hire the best software developer form Pakistan. The reasons for hiring the software developer from Pakistan are lower labor costs and familiarity with Pakistanââ¬â¢s education sector. This will help us to minimize our costs and be more efficient in our product development. Our strategic asset is our developers and our business plans. Technology Strategy The technology strategy is part the overall corporate strategy takes into consideration the components of the core strategy. In pharmaceutical firms and high tech equipment manufacturers, it is common for the technology strategy to be related to the corporate strategy. This concerns the management and use of technology for further expansion and development (Burgelman Doz, 2001). Our core strategy is to focus on innovation and excellent services for our clients. Our goal is also to build reliable and flexible software that is cost effective and sustainable. The product we offer is based on Moodle. Although Moodle is already available in the market, we will develop a new e-learning software based on the Moodle framework. This new e-learning software will be customized to suit Pakistanââ¬â¢s education sector. Our basic strategy is to understand the clientââ¬â¢s requirements and create products that will address all their needs. The service strategy provides guidance on how to design, develop, and implement our service management plans. We will provide not only the software to our clients, but also services such as installation, customization, and post-sales support. We will also provide trainings to teachers and administrative staff on how to upload data and use communication tools. Trainings will also be provided for university students who will be using the e-learning software. Financial Strategy à The financial strategy is an important component of any business plan. Initially, we are going to finance our business using our personal savings and from investments of our family and friends. Our initial capital investment is à £3,000 to à £5,000. For future expansion plans, we will loan from a bank or other financial institutions. Partnership Networks à à à à à à à à à à à We are going to start with one project, through the help of a partnership with a small software firm. This will help to minimize our development costs. The partnership contract will be based on profit sharing. The reason for entering into a partnership is to allow us to offer our products to other universities in the future. à à à à à à à à à à à It is my responsibility to secure the contract from the university. It is my task to find out the requirements and needs of the university and to negotiate with them in terms of cost and other pertinent issues. Customer Interface à à à à à à à à à à à Our target market is the Pakistani education sector. The main reason for targeting this market is the lack of educational software in Pakistan. Initially our target is one university, which will be Bahria University Islamabad. The motive for choosing this organization is the fact that some of our colleagues have studied there and are very familiar with the university. à à à à à à à à à à à According to students of Bahria University, the administrative system that their university is currently using is not user friendly compared to other well-known universities in the Pakistan. As such, it will be a great idea to offer the new e-learning software to this university. To get the contract for developing this service, we will talk to the universityââ¬â¢s management team. We will present them our productââ¬â¢s features and offer our services to them. Pricing Model à à à à à à à à à à à We are new in the market and we want to compete with existing players. Our main focus is to attract a lot of customers and this can be achieved by making our products affordable. We are applying a cost leadership strategy. We will offer the best products at low cost to persuade customers to avail of our products. This is an ideal market entry strategy. maximum customers and for this out for going for cost leadership strategy. We will offer best low cost to facilitate our clients and make them comfortable to deal with us. Initially our motive is to adjust our self on low profit and gain marketà share. Conclusions à à à à à à à à à à à Success of an organization depends on leaning, innovation, and constant change in a systematic and scientific way. Every organization will constantly have to acquire new knowledge to remain competitive. Change and uncertainty is managed by having a plan for the future. With a business plan, uncertainty ceases to be a threat and becomes an opportunity. Different models must be used to avoid uncertainty and risk. In entering a new market, we will use a business model to avoid uncertainty and carry out the innovation process in a manageable way. à à à à à à à à à à à Being management student, we admire the importance of literature on technology management and new product innovation. On the basis of that literature and examples, we can conclude that if we ignore all those theories and models, product innovation will not be achieved. Our plan is based on the review of relevant literature and carried out through a business model. References Burgelman, R.A. and Doz, Y.L. (2001).
